A separator operator in training was loading chick buggies onto the chain conveyor of a separator machine. The employee noticed a crooked tray on a buggy entering the separator and placed his right foot on the chain conveyor to reach into the machine and straighten the tray. The next buggy moved forward and caught the employee's leg against the conveyor fracturing his tibia and fibula near the ankle.
