The employee lost control of the grinder and sustained a laceration on his right leg above the knee that required sutures and hospitalization.

An employee was grinding the flat surface of his welding table to remove old welds from a previous set-up. He was using a 5-inch angle grinder equipped with a cut-off disk. The disk disintegrated and fragments hit the employee causing lacerations to the stomach area. The employee also sustained internal bleeding as a result of contusion to arteries.
