As the employee was using a pump to filter ethanol from one 5-gallon bucket (through tubing and a charcoal filter) to another, the ethanol started to spray out and immediately caught fire. The employee suffered second-degree burns to the face, hands, and arms.

The employee's shirt caught on fire and the employee jumped approximately 12 feet from the top of the tanker truck to the earthen ground below. The employee sustained burns to his torso and arms, as well as a fractured left leg.
