An employee was swinging a sledgehammer to knock pins out of aluminum sows and smashed his left hand pointer finger in the process. The employee was taken to the hospital where it was determined that the finger needed to be amputated.

Employee was preparing to euthanize a non-performing hog. He went to the shop and retrieved a Captive Bolt Gun and returned to the pen where the hog was located. He loaded the gun and put the safety on. As he was climbing into the pen, the gun fell. When it hit the floor, the gun discharged, and the 3" projectile attached to the gun struck the caregiver in the right thumb, puncturing his thumb and breaking the bone.

Employee lifted the seat of a golf cart to see why it did not start. He jiggled some wires and when he pressed on a belt, the belt started to turn. The tip of his middle finger got caught between the turning belt and pulley, which amputated the tip of his finger down to the first knuckle.
