An employee was bucking an 18-inch-thick pine tree into logs using a 24-inch-long chainsaw. The pressure of a cut tree released and the tree sprang back toward the employee, crushing his right foot and penetrating his boot. The foot was broken and punctured.

An employee was attempting to saw down a small pine tree near a larger rotting pine tree when the small tree fell against the larger tree and jolted it. An upper section of the larger pine became dislodged and fell several minutes later. The employee was struck and pinned to the ground by a protruding branch of the trunk section that fell. He suffered crushed vertebrae, broken ribs, and a collapsed lung.
