An employee was heating water in a stainless steel work sink to perform a cleaning operation. The water began boiling, so the employee introduced cold water into the bottom of the sink to cool it down. The reaction of the cold and hot water and the force of the water going into the bottom of the sink caused the water to spew out from the sink and splash onto the employee.
