An employee was bolting a support leg onto the bottom of a trailer. The front of the trailer was lifted slightly in order to insert the leg mounting bracket into position under the trailer mounting bracket. Once in position and after being lowered, the two brackets can be bolted together. The employee's left hand was on the back side of the support leg and his thumb tip was amputated in a pinch point between the two brackets while the trailer was being lowered. | |||||

The back edge of the part came up off the table approximately 1/4". As he was positioning the part, his left index fingertip went between the plate and the table. His coworker activated the foot pedal and the plungers came down to hold the part in place.
