An employee was putting bottles in boxes on a production line. A carton became lodged in the taping portion of the carton erector. He was trying to unjam the carton when it ripped, causing his right hand to pass over the cutting mechanism and the protective cover on the cutting blade to pull back. The blade cut off the tip of his middle finger.
