Excess sodium hypochlorite was added to a treatment tank causing the pH of an adjacent tank to spike. Sulfuric acid was added to the adjacent tank in hopes of lowering the pH. Eight employees were taken to local hospitals for exposure to chlorine gas. Two were hospitalized for respiratory irritation.
